Zeye started his journey at UCFB Wembley in 2015, choosing the world first institution as a way to study a topic he loves and is passionate about. He cites being surrounded by and being able to network with like-minded individuals with similar passions as one of his main drivers in choosing to study at UCFB.

Marking out sport, and specifically football, as his first love, Zeye says his past experiences of watching and participating in live sport has made him realise how much of a privilege it is to study at UCFB with the world-class facilities and best-in-class networking opportunities that are available to students.

During his time at UCFB, Zeye has started up an ethnic and diversity association called Generation That Matters, with the role of the group being to create a pathway for ethnic minorities to go into leadership and management roles. Members gain the skills necessary by going out into the local community and working with local people and other groups.

He points out the inspirational Executive Guest Speakers students hear from each week as part of the Complementary Curriculum, which in the past have included ex-Liverpool player turned Sky TV pundit Jamie Carragher and former FA chief Brian Barwick, as a major benefit to students. Zeye says hearing from high profile industry figures “makes you realise if you keep working hard you can be where they are”.

Zeye points out one of the biggest pieces of advice he has received so far at UCFB is from Neil Doncaster, chief executive of the Scottish Professional Football League, who delivers the Strategic Leadership & Management Programme, who said it’s about “giving 100% in everything you do and not putting all your eggs in one basket”.

“Football has made me who I am. It teaches you life skills like working as a team, knowing your role and communicative skills in supporting one another. Those are transferable skills that I use on a day to day basis, and it was football that taught me them.”
