Prospective students welcomed to this year’s UCFB Wembley Taster Days
UCFB Wembley Taster Days that took place on Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd of February were a resounding success with excited prospective students and their parents enjoying a first-hand experience of life at UCFB, including talks by VIP guest speakers Alex McLeish and Chris Powell.
Prospective students and their parents from all across the UK travelled to our UCFB Wembley campus, situated inside the iconic Wembley Stadium, to enjoy a truly unique insight into what it is like to live, work and learn at UCFB Wembley.
The guests were welcomed in the Great Hall, where they firstly had an opportunity to hear from UCFB Chief Executive Professor Phillip Wilson followed by the VIP guest speakers on each day. On the Monday, Scottish football Hall of Famer Alex McLeish spoke about his glittering management career and offered invaluable insight into life behind the scenes at a football club. The following day saw former England and Charlton left back Chris Powell describing his high profile playing career, his five successful years as Chairman of the Professional Footballers’ Association, and his 200 games as a manager of Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town.
In addition to these exclusive Q&As, guests heard talks from current students, including the UCFB Wembley Students’ Union President James Willcocks, followed by a presentation from the Employability & Enrichment Team on the unparalleled employment opportunities that await future students.
The prospective students also attended masterclass taster sessions, which were tailor made to offer an understanding of what lectures in their preferred academic pathways would encompass. This not only gives them the chance to sample what their time at UCFB will be like, but also engage with their future academic staff and truly appreciate the sports industry experience that is delivered into academic offerings.
Parents participated in a Q&A with representatives of all departments of UCFB, including UCFB Chief Executive Professor Phillip Wilson, in which queries ranging from student accommodation, student finance and our pastoral care programme were all carefully and meticulously answered.
To finish off the UCFB Wembley Taster days, guests had the options to attend a tour of the iconic UCFB Wembley facilities within Wembley Stadium and experience any other of the facilities first-hand, including the student accommodation site located just a stone’s throw away from the campus.
Overall, it was an honour to host our guests over the two UCFB Wembley Taster Days and give prospective students and their parents an opportunity to not only experience the world-class facilities first-hand but also to engage with UCFB staff members and the Academic team to gain a truly unique insight into what their UCFB journey will entail.
All UCFB Etihad Campus 2016 undergraduate applicants have been invited to the Taster Days on Friday 4th March and Friday 11th March, which will provide an insight into living, working and studying within the heart of the football, sport and events industries at UCFB Etihad Campus, inside the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.
