UCFB media students feel the excitement of match day at QPR’s Loftus Road

UCFB and Championship side Queens Park Rangers have kicked-off an exciting new partnership which will see students gain valuable match day media skills

QPR welcomed BA (Hons) Sports Business & Sports Broadcasting students to Loftus Road for their under-23s’ fixture with Colchester United.

UCFB is delighted to announce that John Watts, an award winning camera director, will be talking to UCFB Wembley students this week as part of the Executive Guest Speaker Series.

Watts, who has covered numerous major sporting and Royal events, will appear at UCFB Wembley on Tuesday 14th March.

UCFB is delighted to announce that Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher and former football agent Mel Stein will be talking to students next week as part of the Executive Guest Speaker Series.

Carragher, now a popular pundit on Sky Sports, will appear at UCFB Etihad Campus, and Stein, who has represented numerous England internationals over the years, will be at UCFB Wembley in the usual Tuesday and Wednesday guest speaker slots.

300 up for UCFB employability team

UCFB reached another landmark this week when it struck a partnership with its 300th organisation to enable students to access vital work placement roles in the football, sport and events industries.

Since opening its doors in 2011, UCFB has emphasised the importance to all students of taking on work placement opportunities alongside their studies. In that time, over 1,000 students have been placed in elite organisations around the world including The Football Association, UEFA and the Rugby Football Union.

Originally created two years ago as an attempt to inspire women to participate in sport, its success was remarkable. SMMEX Wembley Stadium event to give UCFB students vital insight and experience

UCFB students will get the chance to network with the cream of the football and sport industry after landing work placement roles at an upcoming conference at Wembley Stadium.

In total, eight students will attend SMMEX – The Sports Merchandise & Marketing Exhibition – at the beginning of March to gain vital work experience and get a closer look at the inner workings of the industry, with some in attendance to film the event for the organisers.

Children in Need certificate for UCFB Etihad Campus staff and students

Students and staff at UCFB Etihad Campus have been presented with a certificate of thanks after raising over £450 for Children in Need.

Across the campus in November, a number of events took place including: a bake sale, a spotty cake competition and football matches where positions were auctioned off to help raise the funds for the BBC’s flagship charity appeal. The certificate, presented this week, confirmed a brilliant total of £454 was raised.
