UCFB is delighted to announce that students on its brand new NCTJ Diploma programme will get the fantastic opportunity to have their work published on one of the UK’s fastest growing sports news websites.

Students will have the chance to write stories, make podcasts and produce videos for Sportsvibe, part of the Fleet Street Sport and Media group, thanks to a new and unique partnership with the website. As well as sourcing material themselves in the style of a real-working journalist, students will also get the opportunity to attend press conferences and special one-to-one interviews with some of the biggest names in football and sport alongside some of the most respected names in British journalism.

It’s not just those studying the NCTJ accredited fast track course at UCFB’s iconic Wembley Stadium campus who will benefit from this exciting partnership. Those studying the BA (Hons) Multimedia Sports Journalism and BA (Hons) Football Business & Media programmes at UCFB Wembley and UCFB Etihad Campus will also get the chance to enhance their portfolio with first-class coverage.

Students on the 20-week NCTJ course must produce a varied portfolio of work as part of the programme, which also includes industry standard modules on shorthand, media law and news reporting. UCFB is also the only fast-track course in the country to offer the NCTJ’s broadcasting module. Alternatively, students can choose options in sports journalism or production journalism.

The NCTJ qualification has launched the careers of world class reporters and is nationally recognised as the kitemark of quality by employers.

NCTJ course leader Roz McKenzie said: “This is a hugely exciting opportunity for student journalists to be involved in a cutting edge website, learn from leading journalists as well as potentially meeting a sporting legend.

“Journalism is a very competitive industry and those entering into it need a wide range of traditional and digital skills, plus work experience to be successful. Sportsvibe will give them a unique platform to launch their careers.”
