Scholarships for UK/EU Students

Please note that all scholarships and bursaries except for the NCTJ are now closed for applications to the 2016/17 academic year.

This page contains UCFB Postgraduate Scholarship Programme information for 2016. These are for applicants holding a firmly accepted offer on a 180 Credit master’s programme at UCFB.

Please note that unless otherwise stated, these scholarships are not available to NCTJ Diploma students.

MSc International Sport Management – Outstanding Student Award

This scholarship is open to applicants holding an offer for International Sport Management who can demonstrate outstanding academic skills and extra-curricular profile.

Value: £4,000 reduction in fees.

MSc International Sport Management – Academic Excellence Scholarship

This scholarship is open to applicants holding an offer on our MSc International Sports Business programme with a strong academic profile.

Value: Up to £3,000 reduction in fees.

High Achiever Scholarship

This scholarship is available to two academically gifted home/EU applicants with a strong application and excellent extra-curricular activities.

Value: £1,500 reduction in fees.

She Kicks Scholarship

This scholarship is open to two outstanding female applicants, based on their academic profile and extra-curricular activities.

Value: £3,000 reduction in fees.

Women’s Super League Scholarship

This scholarship is open to:

  • An existing Women’s Super League player
  • A Woman’s Super League player who has retired, or plans to do so in the next 3 years.

Value: £3,000 reduction in fees.

British Olympic Association Scholarship

This scholarship is open to:

  • Athletes who are aged 18-21 & currently competing as part of Team GB
  • Athletes who are retired or retiring in the next 3 years.

Value: £3,000 reduction in fees. plus support for travel expenses to Olympic related activities (competitors only, at the discretion of UCFB).

Journalism Diversity Fund

The Journalism Diversity Fund is aimed at people without the financial means to attend NCTJ-accredited journalism courses who are socially or ethnically diverse.

Applications for bursaries are currently open for the diversity fund’s third cohort. Application forms are available on the Journalism Diversity Fund website, here, the deadline is Wednesday, 13 July at 5pm.

UCFB NCTJ Scholarships

  • Two £1,500 scholarships offered to students who could not otherwise afford the programme – full details to be announced in December.

Postgraduate Loyalty Discount

This scholarship is open to any UCFB or Buckinghamshire New University graduate who has received and accepted an offer to study at postgraduate level with UCFB.

Value: 25% reduction in fees.

There may be an opportunity to extend your support package into years two and three of a student’s study, subject to meeting the declared criteria.

International High Achiever Scholarship

This scholarship is open to two academically gifted international applicants with a strong application and excellent extra-curricular activities.

Value: £4,000 reduction in fees.

South Asian High Achiever Scholarship

This scholarship is open to academically gifted applicants from South Asia with a strong application and excellent extra-curricular activities.

Value: £2,000 reduction in fees.

Sub-Saharan Africa High Achiever Scholarship

This scholarship is open to academically gifted applicants from Sub-Saharan Africa with a strong application and excellent extra-curricular activities.

Value: £2,000 reduction in fees.

Application Process

In order to be eligible to apply for a scholarship or bursary, a student must:

  • Have already applied to UCFB and received an offer from UCFB; and
  • Have confirmed UCFB as their firm choice;

Due to the highly competitive nature of our scholarships and bursaries, applications from applicants who have not received and firmly accepted an offer from UCFB cannot be considered.

Please note that no payments will be made prior to the student enrolling on their course.
